The principle behind a flashback arrestor (flame arrestor) is to prevent flames from entering into an HHO generator or bubbler by using a stainless steel mesh embedded in the tube. This is the primary means for preventing damage to an HHO cell. You might also be interested in a bubbler, which serves as a secondary buffer in case of a malfunction or in the unlikely even that the flashback arrester fails.

Although this item is included in all HHO kits made by Hydroxy Technologies, you might need another flashback arrester if your engine has dual air intakes. This makes a great addition to any HHO kit that needs a backfire preventer for safety.
