**For
Windows XP and prior versions of Windows, you can use HyperTerminal, included
with the operating system. For Vista, you will probably need to find a terminal
program such as PuTTY that works
over a serial
port.
***Do you have
HyperTerminal installed? Try it and see. Click Start,
Run, and type hypertrm into the box that appears. If
present, it may ask you to choose your default telnet program or set up your
dialing locations. Most of this has nothing to do with a terminal window,
but it will eventually get you to the program. It will then try to
get you to setup a name and icon for the connection before you get to
choose any program options. You will enjoy the beautiful icons and choices which
haven't changed since 1994. Here are some tips on using the program: Microsoft
article, ModemSite, and Dialogic.
Those last 2 have a good overview of what you may see on your
screen. |
